SHEQ Officer – EE

The SHEQ Officer will responsible for coordinating the Quality, Environmental, Health, Safety, legal compliance programmes and related issues. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring that the business complies with all relevant SHEQ legislation, company policies and procedures, minimum requirements and permit requirements.


Requirements:

Grade 12

Relevant Health and Safety tertiary qualification

5 years’ experience in construction and project management environment

Must be able to train and facilitate

Fluency in English and Afrikaans

Literacy and numerical ability

Good interpersonal and communications skills

Have a resilient and energetic personality

Ability to perform under pressure

 

Responsibilities:

Conduct safety, health and risk assessments and audits

Complete incident investigations and collate SHE statistics

Conduct SHEQ inspections and ensure all employees comply with PPE requirements

Facilitate related training to employees

Share relevant information timeously with all concerned

Conduct SHE meetings and ensure all attendance registers are signed and kept record of

Ensure that housekeeping requirements are met

Have sound knowledge and understanding of OHASA Act and relevant environmental legislation

Ensure systems and procedures are in place to identify and respond to quality failures or reports

Maintain existing quality management system

Ensure that relevant teams have training and manage quality management system

Ensure relevant processes are in place to support quality and quantity of the customer expectations

Develop a culture that incorporates environmental sustainability into all operations

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Identify regulatory gaps and implement measures to investigate and avoid

Supplier Invoices - process on Syspro for all companies in group and match to open grn

Supplier – obtain invoices and statements from suppliers

Ensure deadlines are adhered to e.g. month end payments, rent payments, closing of accounts payable module on Syspro, etc.

 
Foreign Creditors:

Supplier Invoices – process and match to grn. Add invoices to excel payment schedule.

Payment – compile pmt schedule, book currency via deal/FEC drawdown.

Payments – Ensure pmt processed on FNB Eforex, process on Syspro, print remittances and file.

Email pmt schedule and proof of payment to Eforex Department. Record FEC invoices paid on FEC spreadsheet.

Other – check CFC balances that sufficient funds are available for CFC payments.

Daily rates – send out daily FX rates spreadsheet, update FX rates on web

 
Requirements:

Degree/Diploma in accounting (or similar)

3-5 years’ experience in a similar role

Experience with foreign payments and FEC’s

Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Logical and Methodical thinker

Microsoft proficient

Syspro or similar ERP system proficient

Professional manner by email, telephone and in person

Ability to handle high task volume

Ability to meet deadlines with a systematic approach
